I have been an avid triathlete since 1999 competing in Olympic distance, Half-Ironman, and mountain bike triathlons. I have always enjoyed swimming, biking, and running, but assembling all three and racing was a huge, but very rewarding challenge for me.
For those of you who are new to triathlon, an Olympic distance triathlon consists of a 1.5k swim, a 40k bike, and a 10k run. A Half-Ironman consists of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run. And lastly, an Ironman triathlon entails a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and a marathon (26.2 mile run).
The highlights of my career thus far are finishing the 2000 Half-Vineman triathlon, which is a Half-Ironman distance race, in 4hrs and 57min, and finishing the San Francisco Home Depot Half Marathon this year in 1hr 32min, which is a personal best for me. My next goal is to complete the Wildflower Long Course (Half-Ironman) in May 2003 followed by Ironman Coeur d'Alene in June 2003.
